What matters most when choosing a carer?

  • When selecting a carer, the intersection of professional competency and personal compatibility is always crucial. Here are some important things you need to consider when choosing your carers.
  • A carer’s qualifications and experience form the foundation of quality care. The expertise to navigate specific health conditions, cater to individual needs, and offer adept support is non-negotiable.
  • A carer isn’t just a care provider but a companion in the care journey. Personal compatibility, rooted in respect, understanding, and empathy, is vital to fostering a comfortable and nurturing care at your own home.
  • Trust underpins the carer-client relationship. Reliability, punctuality, and dependability of a carer are crucial in establishing and maintaining trust.
  • Effective communication ensures that the care experience is collaborative. A carer’s ability to listen, understand, and communicate effectively with you ensures that the care is tailored, informed, and aligned with your needs and preferences.

FAQS

Only an Approved Home Care Package Provider is able to host a Home Care Package. Approved Providers have had to become registered with the Department of Health. They will have satisfied both legal and social requirements in order to administer packages on behalf of consumers.

Whereas, a Service Provider is any company that delivers the actual support or hours of care to you or to your loved one, such as cleaning, gardening, personal care, podiatry etc.

Some Home Care Package Providers are also service providers and they employ their own carers. Certain Providers will suggest you only use their own services, but it is expected that all Providers should allow you to use external suppliers as well.

At Lucky Care, we have the largest list of care providers in Australia which is growing every day. At Lucky Care, we don’t lock you into using our own staff at inflated costs, instead we broker our home care services nationally. This means you have the freedom to choose and find the care worker right for your situation, local to you.

As well as our large list of suppliers for you to choose from, we also allow you to bring your own care workers onboard as long as they can pass background checks. You can find carers and support workers to use through your Home Care Package. At Lucky Care, you aren’t limited in choice and we support you to find the best care provider at the best price, to suit your needs. We want you to find the best care worker for you.

Once you connect with your care provider, you can contact them to ensure they are able to cater to your individual needs and cultural preferences, you can then agree to rates, hours and services that work for you both. If you are making the switch, you are also able to keep on carers you had previously, and we will help facilitate that transition.

Yes, your family member can manage your Home Care Package with your consent. In this arrangement, they can take on the responsibility of making decisions about your care. It can be a collaborative effort where you and your loved ones work together, ensuring that your care is tailored to your specific needs and preferences while offering them a hands-on role in your care journey.
